School Heads Association was founded in May 1993. That same year it became an associated member of ESHA (European School Heads Association). In October 1994 during the elective conference there were elected:

The same administration body was elected twice and is acting nowadays.

USHA - is a voluntary public organization of school heads of secondary school of Ukraine, it's major aim is: to contribute to the development of the national education as the main means of creation of the Ukrainian state to rise of the school head to influence the educational policy of the state. USHA has its own Code of Laws, which is officially registered and stated according to the Constitution of Ukraine. There are more than 300 members of school heads from different regions of Ukraine.

During the last years inspired of difficult economic situation, large promotion work was held inside the country and abroad the appropriate conditions were created and especial educating systems for school heads training (the centers in Ukraine are: Kyiv, Lviv, Striy, Kirovograd, Kharkiv, Odessa, Rivne). Taking into acount the national and European expiriences as to the strategy of education development proficiency and competence of the principal (since 1997 "Head of School" newspaper has been printing, the director of it is the president of USHA - Olena Onats). The Regional Ukraine - The Netherlands - Belarus - Bulgaria ESHA - DEEP programme was held in order to activate USHA's participation in the international projects (Modern School management, professional training of a principal).

Since September 2001 the second international project was been acting - UDEM (Ukrainian Dutch Educational Management). The project coordinators are: Mr. Herman Bosman (V. V. O. the Netherlands) and Mrs. Irina Kozina (USHA - Ukraine). USHA cooperates with the World School Heads Conference (ICP) (International Conference of principals) too, and that strenthens the links of USHA with the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine, the state organizations and authorities. Now USHA is the most popular and strong public educational organization in Ukraine.

The international center of USHA is lyceum N38, named after Valeriy Molchanov.
