ADMISSION REGULATIONS OF THE IRL 51
Enrolment of students in the IRL is held for the 1st form and for the 8th form to the three departments of the Lyceum on the basis of these Regulations, which were worked out according to the Lyceum's Statute.
The organization of the competition
- The parents of the children who want to enter the 1st form of the Lyceum give the medical certificate (Form 26) and personal data before the day of the interview. If a child is admitted to the Lyceum his/her parents give to the administration a personal application, birth certificate copy, medical certificate and two photos (3X4).
- Only children who have reached the age of 7 and school maturity, by September 1st are admitted to the 1st form of the Lyceum.
- Competitive enrolment in the 8th form of the Lyceum is held in three departments: the Humanities, the Natural Sciences Department and the Law Department.
- All Kyiv pupils who have finished the 7th form successfully are admitted to take part in the competition.
- To take part in the competition the pupils (or their parents) give a personal application, school certificate for the 7th form and medical certificate.
- The entrance examinations are held after the end of the school year. The dates are fixed by the administration and announced 2 weeks before the exams.
- Pupils pass the exams in English, Ukrainian and Mathematics to enter the Natural Sciences Department, English, Ukrainian and History to enter the Law Department, English, Ukrainian Literature and Language to enter the Humanity Department.
The competition
- The head of the Enrolment Commission is the Headmaster of the Lyceum or deputy head in charge of the educational-upbringing process.
- The Commission consists of highly skilled Lyceum teachers, representatives of Pechersk Education Board, psychologist.
- The commission aims to get acquainted with the level of educational motivation of a child, his/her intellectual level and preparedness to the intensive studying at the Lyceum.
- The period of interviewing is fixed by the Lyceum's administration.
- To hold the competition for the 3d stage of the Lyceum a special Commission is formed. The members are chosen every year according to the decision of the pedagogical council and are approved by the Lyceum Headmaster. The Head of the Enrolment Commission is the Headmaster or the deputy in charge of the educational-upbringing process.
- To hold the subject examination the Headmaster issues an order to form a subject Enrolment Commission.
- Examination materials are prepared by the head of the Commission and are kept by the Headmaster in a sealed envelope. They are opened only on the day of examination in the presence of pupils and all Commission members.
- Special Lyceum's stamped paper is used for the examination. After the examination the works are coded and given for the checking without the title page. The works are decoded after they have been checked. Examination tests are kept for 1-year term.
- The results of the examinations, tests and interviews are announced the next day after the examination takes place and are kept for1-year term.
- Pupils who did not come for the examination without a valid reason and those who have got unsatisfactory marks are not allowed to take the other examination.
- There is no district limits for pupils willing to take part in the competition.
Enrolment
- Enrolment in the first form of the Lyceum is carried out according to the Psychologico-Pedagogical Commission's conclusion taking into consideration preparedness of a child under school age and his residence in Kyiv.
- Enrolment in the first form of the Lyceum is carried out through a Headmistress order, which is issued on the base of the Commission's resolution after finishing of the Commission's work. Maximum number of pupils in the 1st forms is 24.
- Enrolment in the departments of the Lyceum is realized according to the number of points acquired during the competitive exams.
- The decision concerning the students who have passed that competition is approved by the majority of the Commission members' votes and signed by all those members.
- Enrolment in the Lyceum is realized according to the resolution of the Enrolment Commission.
- In the case of disagreement with the Enrolment Commission's decision, parents and children can appeal to the head of the Commission. It should be filed in the term of three days since the results of the competition have become known. The application is being examined during a week.
- Commission of Appeal is created for examining the application. No additional exams can be held while the application is under examination.
- Students who have not begun studying in 10 days after the beginning of a school year without valid reasons are expelled.
Control over the competition
- Control over arranging and holding the competition and over the enrolment is put upon the bodies of the State Educational Board.

Структура навчального року 2003-2004
2003/04 навчальний рік починається 1 вересня - святом Дня знань і закінчується, включаючи проведення навчальних екскурсій, підсумкове оцінювання навчальних досягнень учнів, 31 травня.
Навчальні заняття розпочинаються 2 вересня і організовуються за семестровою системою:
І семестр - з 2 вересня по 27 грудня,
ІІ семестр - з 12 січня по 31 травня.
Протягом навчального року для учнів проводяться канікули орієнтовно:
осінні - з 3 по 9 листопада,
зимові - з 29 грудня по 11 січня,
весняні - з 15 по 21 березня.
З 27 по 31 травня організовуються навчальні екскурсії на природу, виробництво, заняття на навчально-дослідних ділянках, суспільно-корисна праця (тривалістю не більше 3 годин на день).
